As I recall, old ice boxes had the ice on top, as cold air falls, and the convection pattern in there keeps things at the bottom colder, while warmer air rises and the upper shelf is the warmer spot.

You might want to keep your ice jugs at the top.

Thanks Gil, it was 60 degrees in it when i posted the picture and it`s down to 40 now, it will be used for a refrigerator if the power goes out for long periods.

We just finished making a ice box, pine.
The bottles are full of ice.
