Thanks Jack.

I’ve got friends who swear MMO is basically hydraulic fluid. It looks and smells very much like military aircraft hydraulic fluid. Basically anything sold as top cylinder lube or in a pinch, bog standard hydraulic fluid in a light ratio would do. I’m not a fan of heavier two stroke oils designed for 100 to 1 mix in high performance outboards and such. This is a low compression, low speed engine. It doesn’t take a lot, and the rings are petroleum resistant. If your nix feels just a tiny bit slippery between your fingers, it’ll do.

Hey Jim
Just about any fuel additive will be equivalent to MMO
Penrite do one as do Redex nulon, etc.
All available at autopro, autobarn, supercrap etc.
See email.

Thanks Doug & Gil for the replies, appreciated guys.
I've successfully (so far) fought the urge to buy one of the Chinese H&M engines, but feel my resolve weakening and the M92 with governor looks very nice.
For fuel, Zippo lighter fluid is easy to acquire down here but no one I have inquired to knows anything about Marvel Mystery Oil.
How critical is the oil mix for these H&M engines?

Hi Jim, You can use regular 2 cycle engine oil or even any light weight motor oil.
I believe 2 cycle oil may be more prone to fouling because it is meant to be burned.
A good burn is difficult to achieve in an engine that always runs cool.
I am aware that some model engine guys like to use WD-40 however it is a fairly poor lubricant.
Do you think they would let us mail you a bottle of mystery oil?

Jim,
I guess it might depend on what you are using it for. I use wd-40 1-32 ratio with coleman fuel for running my hit/miss engines. Others use mystery oil in this application.
Beyond that , I can't help.
Surely others will have some info.

What is a suitable Mystery Oil Substitute?
Because Mystery Oil in Oz is just that...a mystery.
