These little engines are ridiculously addictive, a few months ago I could never have imagined myself mucking around with petrol engines.

What's that old saying "Never say never" !

That engine is running nicely there Jim. I need to send for some suitable springs to test like that. I currently have one of the original springs slightly over stretched, connected across the centre of the governor.

That lubricant might find a use on my motorcycle chains. I lube them now with 90 weight gear oil applied every tank of petrol (about 200 miles) with a small paint brush. I apply it sparingly since more will be thrown off, and I don't want it on the rear tyre for obvious reasons....

you have that running Sweet Jim , now the curios side of me wants to know how you got all those springs in the vice at one time without 3 other ones falling out before you got the vise closed again...lol

LOL Bruce, there was some frustration (and a little cursing) to get those all standing up, I was determined that they would be though :)

There was just enough slop in the vice jaws that I could pull it out just a touch and squeeze each one down, took a long time to get them all up and then tightened the vice.

Thanks Daniel, can't believe what time wasters these are... boy oh boy am I having fun. Now I know why everyone else's posts/threads sounded so happy when they were talking about these little gas (I mean petrol - see you guys are rubbing off on me :) ) engines.

That lube sure looks to be some good stuff

So what’s the next mod to the engine?  ;)

Nick to be honest mate, it makes me a little nervous to take one of these apart too much and muck up how good they are running.

I really did like what @odu50 did to his in this thread though -
