You might want to try it with a drop of dish soap or the like in the bottle, and then see if that's a bit more effective at wetting the flames down.

Bit scary, after doing that I've always kept minimum metho in my steam room. There were a few close calls when I'd left the bottle/container uncapped and my elbow knocked it off the table and onto the floor.....don't even want to think what would have happened to me let alone the house if that had ignited  :'(

I kinda think it mostly burned itself out , it seemed to fight you pretty hard Jim .
