I have gone to Feilding public day most years .
Free rides on Full size TEs and SRs
Either on trailer on one machine it self
You get to steer around the feild and some of us even get to drive ( controls etc )
I don’t get to do it much as i am in shed steaming my toys .
Covid canceled last years show so am hoping for this year .
Apparently it is the largest club ( number of machines ) in the Southern Hemisphere

I'm very fortunate, I live 10 miles from one of the largest steam shows in a tri state area , we usually have 30-40 live full size steamers every year & the show is very well participated and growing every year. They take very good care of me.
Are you talking about Portland, IN.? I've been there, that was a two day fun time for me.
A friend and I went down there and came back with two H&Ms, 5hp, and a 3 1/2hp, and a steamer.
The Cicadas were bad that year.

I'm very fortunate, I live 10 miles from one of the largest steam shows in a tri state area , we usually have 30-40 live full size steamers every year & the show is very well participated and growing every year. They take very good care of me.
I'm fortunate that you guys video and put up the shows that you all attend and let folks like me go vicariously along with you. Honestly its no small thing to watch and enjoy the walk throughs, they are so enjoyable.

I've never driven one let alone been a passenger in one. At a steam show when they go by they are incredibly impressive, no wonder even non steamers love seeing them.
Go to a show early in the morning and start talking, you never know, you might be invited up on one! The show grounds where I go to steam school has a shed of probably 50 steamers that don’t even make it out in the daylight for the show as they have nobody to run them. On top of that are hundreds of tractors covered in dust that also never run. Our area shows are really hurting for volunteers as so many are dying off...
I've only ever been to one proper steam show Steamfest in the Hunter Valley in Newcastle it was a 6 hour drive to get there and a two day event and Jen and I stayed in a motel. It was such a awesome weekend. No kidding, the thrill when those traction engines went by and they tooted the whistles was just so incredible!

Started learning in 2019, video below is my first time (stocking cap/flannel shirt)... Have half my hours for a license, but Covid got in the way. Fingers are crossed that I will be back in steam school in May
This engine hadn’t been run in several years, everything was quite stiff. The Avery we played around with was quite a bit easier.
