What a fine table you have laid before us here Charlie!
I've just gone through it again, and found that the clock reeled off a couple of hours in doing so, and very enjoyable hours I must say!!
Thank you for the amazement and entertainment .... most enjoyable!!!
On a side note, your Ball Drop accessory and the discussion around it, made me dig out my A&E video production of "Longitude" and watch it over a couple of nights. It is as I remembered it ... fascinating and most enjoyable!
-
Just went through your collection walk through again Charlie, great vid mate.
Thank you Jim.
I counted my engines today and I have 302 working engines. 🤠
302 damn good ones to !!!!

Did you tell your wife? I’m sure she would be thrilled to know what she started 😂
Yes I did...but, just to irritate her.
I didn’t bother counting all of the steam toys....but it is probably close to that number.
😂 😂

Haha :D It’s easy to add unnoticed new engines to the shelf when you have that many ;D

Hi Bucky
pssst. I have about half of Charlie's collection - my Wife believes it is about 25 pieces - haha ;D

Hi Charlie, just got the time for a more detailed catch up on your thread here.
The accessory movie really shows some very neat toys...all of them.
I do not believe that i´ve ever seen that Hour Ball before, and much less one running, thanks for sharing that.
The water dredge is a quite special toy too, with those tilting buckets...and the modded SPS pump is a tresured accessory here as well, always fun to run those, with all the motion that long handle brings to the table.
As i understand it, you´re getting your shots now, so most fitting to end that movie with the Vironator.
Goes without saying, that i really liked your run of the poppetvalve engine, it is a true gem.
Just watching that old girl spin flawlessly there was a treat on its own, and on top a very nice way to commemorate our way too early departed friend.
Thanks for setting up this truely amazing table :)

Glad you finally steamed that beast Charlie :)
It really steamed up well Nick. No leaks. I couldn’t pre heat the water because our microwave went out late last week.
Took less than 10 minutes to get up a head of steam.

I was just looking at my YouTube Channel and I now have 165 steam videos posted to my channel (175 total).
Unfortunately, I still have more steam videos than subscribers (148).
-
Thank you for showing all your Treasures in a 17 Minutes Walk - it is endless and
very unique - I have to collect Steam engines for the next 100 Years
to reach your level!!!
I like your Bing Poppet valve - it is all original not like mine.
Congrats Arnold
Thank you Arnold.
I very much enjoyed seeing your collection.
I aspire to one day be able to properly display my collection the way you have.
I have watched your two videos twice today!
Regards,
Charlie

Great presentation, Charlie...!!!
If it hasn't already been done I will take the liberty of also embedding the video for Scott on his table.

Great idea Gil.
Thank you,

As promised, here is my video tribute to Scott.

Charlie, lovely plank hot air engine & windmill. I will be looking forward to see the Bing poppet valve running
Thanks Mike.

And it is nit for sale. 🤠
I knew it wasn't, I was just trying to prod you into steaming it.

Oooooo ... three mushroom burner heads .... that ought to be good for heating up something ... and fast!!!

Looking forward to the video of that one Charlie 8)

I will be steaming this one in the morning in memory of Scott.
I am embarrassed to say that I have never steamed it.
Should be interesting......

-
Thanks Daniel.
I will look for the A&E four part series.
-
Just in case you are unaware .... A&E made a four part movie for television called "Longitude" that was based on the book by Dava Sobel. I have never read the book, though I should like to, but I think the movie adaptation is most excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone who might have the slightest interest!
Meanwhile, that Ball Drop is certainly a wonderful and uncommon accessory, and I do like the history behind it.
-
I just posted the third video for my table.
Great fun that video was!! ;D
Love that Ball Drop with the Bell, would be a fun toy for New Years Eve :D
What a brilliant idea Nick.
The only problem is that I am usually asleep (in my recliner) before midnight on New Years Eve. 🤠
We celebrate at 11pm and watch the ball drop in NY on tv at their midnight because everyone is struggling to stay awake 😂
Walter had previously identified the Hour Ball:
[attachimg=1]
Hour Balls were used in ports and dropped at specific times so that Mariners could set their chronographs.
There is a fantastic book that @parallelmotion recommended to me about the history of the chronograph.
“Longitude” by Dava Sobel.

Great to see a Tarot at work! That brass hammer mill was especially awesome.
Trevor really out did himself with the design and quality build.
I have another very special new build coming from him. The package is somewhere between Australia & Texas.

You should put a warning on your table, “will cause excessive drooling” what a collection you have :) going to watch the tour vid again :)
Thanks Dan-c!

A wise idea with those tags Charlie, use the system myself on other less visited "collections" here.
When it comes to steam toys, my little collection here mainly consists of a single brand, which reduces the amount of data significantly.
-
Impressive in so many ways...
Loved the tour Charlie, thanks for sharing!
You are welcome Jan.
It forced me to tidy up a bit. 🤠
You may notice some white tags on some of the engines.
I have been tagging some of the higher end engines with their Maker and model number.

Oh my gosh Charlie, how did you find time to shoot a video with all those magnificent toys all around.
If they weren't so expensive and fragile, I'd rake em into a pile and jump in.
Great table Charlie.
😂 😂 Oh what fun that would be! 😂 😂
Nick:
From your house to mine is only 889 miles/14 hours. You could be here in less than a day. A chip shot for you. 🤠
Hang tight, I gotta wait till morning to pick up the U-haul truck 😂
I don't think U-Haul offers a large enough truck or trailer for your wants and needs Nick .... better plan to swing by Bruce's on the way to Texas and get him to come with you in his full Semi Tractor Trailer.
Haha, I like the way you think! ;D

Charlie....I think I'm steam engine drunk, there's so many nice engines there (like a museum) that its hard to take it all in , so I guess ill need to view it all again....WOW.
thanks for doing this for us !
You are welcome Bruce.
I hope you and Angie get to visit some day.
I feel like a dark cloud has been lifted now that I have been vaccinated.
I am ready for a Road Trip. 🤠
We would love to visit you someday. 😊👍

Charlie, you have to fire it up. This is the weekend to do it. I've never seen one run.
OK Charlie, if you don't want to steam up your Peerless, then sell it to me and you won't
have to. Put all the blame on me, it's the least I could for ya.
I do need to steam it, but it won’t be this weekend.
I have a Toy Show set up to film and edit in the morning.
And it is nit for sale. 🤠

Yes Charlie, it's a sickness. That special engine that you didn't know where else to put it.
It needs to be up front or by his cousins, the Weeden's. I have part of a Peerless, picked up
some of the engine but most importantly, that massive "S" spoked flywheel. It's hiding somewhere
in a box so who's worse.
I was having a senior moment. Yes, it is a peerless in mint condition. I still need to steam it some day.

Thanks Tommy. To illustrate how much the collection has grown, here is a video on April 23, 2017. In the video I state that I had ~35 engines. I got my first engine for Christmas 2016 from my wife (a Weeden 702) and four months later I had ~35. A present she has regretted giving me ever since. ;D

Thank you Doug T; Daniel and Nick.
I just finished my annual steam collection tour video and am uploading it to my table now.

That is a great engine and windmill Charlie! Very nice presentation of the set, and nicely done video!

Charlie, that was one heck of a fine production to kick off what is undoubtedly going to be one mighty amazing table!

Great to see you at the GPU Charlie!! ;D That’s quite a special piece that I did not know you had 8)
