Hi
Questions answered today, Got my NEW D32 Limited in the wood box. The Governor is the original super one not the cheape one. So that should answer the question.
My engine is number 302....one happy fellow
Regards and thanks to all
Howard
Folks, I've just bought a brand new D32 from a dealer in Australia (they still have 2 more in stock). I asked if they could send me photos of the unit and a close-up of the governor to see if I get the simple version or the old-style complex unit.
My D32 is #367 btw.
Happy man here!

Nobody gets that governor, that picture has to be of the prototype.
Already in 2018, when they reintroduced the D32 at Nürnberg Toy Fair, it had the classic D32 governor in place.
-
Well what good luck.
I wouldbe disappointed if I got the pictured cheap governor!

Don´t know why he lists that at €2688.88, when Wilesco has them at €2400?
...but of course you wouldn´t have to wait 6 weeks to get it this way 8)

Here's what they look like on German Ebay.

Well maybe the Governor change on the D32 be answered today.
I am getting my New Limited Edition D32 (whatever that means)TODAY and will fill everyone in as to what the D32 is presently.
Thanks
Howard

Those three pictures of D32 governors, the top and middle ones look like the D32 governor.
That one in the bottom pic looks like all of my Wilesco governors on D16, 20, and the 24.
Is that what your D32 has on it Mike?
Hi, this is the governor on my engine below. I am hoping to take photos and a short clip tomorrow afternoon.

Great, it’s good to see the new engines with the detailed iconic D32 governor.
@ Nick, I am not worried about the value of my engine knowing that it’s worth much more than my asking price. The D32 is a solid beast of an engine, but it doesn’t fit in my pre WWII collection.
-
Clinton’s New D32 (and the others I have seen) have the larger, more detailed governor. Either way this shouldn’t affect the value or sale of your own engine

Yes, i know...and still stand by my words :)
Here´s the movie Wilesco has on their channel for this engine, please check the governor:

I do believe that picture is from the prototype Mike.
The ones i´ve seen on youtube all has the same governor design as the old ones.
Thanks Jan, but that is from the Wilesco website, and here is the link below:

Both Governors are not accurate, but would you rather see the cheap dummy governor at the bottom picture below or a the real mechanical governor on a Wilesco D32? 90% of our hobby is based on seeing mechanical parts moving with different levels of complications.

I will take a short video clip on air too. This is the older great model with the controlling governor not like the new cheap dummy governor
I didnt know they made one with a functioning governor.
They didn´t steamwise Bruce...
But the old D32 has a mechanical connection from the governor to the RPM gauge, whereas the current version use an inductive magnetic proximity switch, which forwards its signal to the gauge...or so i´ve heard, as i haven´t had the chance to inspect any of the new ones yet 8)
If my info stands true, i have no doubt that the later is more precise, but IMO loses quite a bit of the craftmanship feel, by jumping the fence at lowest point like that.
Ok , that makes sense , being knee deep in a D32 resto right now ,I can assure you that the inductive magnetic proximity switch is better, the mechanical lever just turns on a spring driven centrifugal force system, not very accurate at slow speeds & generally just for show.

Oh no.

How about a video of it running? Ah Bruce, can save me a time slot, just pencil it in for now OK?
I'm in the middle of restoring one of these PITA D32's right now Tommy, couldn't get me to do another one no matter what I was offered.
No I might be interested and just need a heater added.
Oh I understood just fine...to get the boiler out & back in is an 8 HR job.

Hi Mates,
I have a converted from electric to Methanol Wilesco D32 in good condition and complete except for the power cord & electric heater of course. I will post pictures on Monday or Tuesday. Since I am not a Wilesco collector, I thought a forum member may enjoy it more than I. No longer available
