Little doubt in my mind, that if you could get the boiler endcap gaskets to reseal, you'll have hardly any difficulty with a simple whistle gasket .... unless Murphy decides to get involved!?!?

Well, not perfect, but still quite a bit better than the first test.
Now it at least holds enough pressure to show the whistlegasket failing :D

That is a very different piston arrangement, the way it pivots. That one did have a slight leak.
Maybe a continuous feed water would've helped, hooked to the faucet.

I removed the solder on the boilerend when it arrived, as i was completely inadequate, and just cleaned, fluxed, and "blobbed" some solder on there, to make certain the holes was completely closed off.
The sightglass threads seemed to be in good condition.
Also, i do have pictures of the original sightglass, but eventhough it´s fairly easy to replicate, i doubt i´ll ever make one for this.
These engines are no more than mere fun oddities to me, so at least for now, any real restorationwork will be up to the next generation.

Right now it it has been opened, to see if some lightoil on the old papergaskets can´t make them swell enough to seal properly again.
If not, i´ll have to make some new ones, but would prefer the original ones in there if possible.

Do you have any photos of a complete engine? It would be nice to look into recreating the sight glass that has obviously been soldered off on that one, as long as you have to pull the end caps off the boiler to re-gasket anyway.

Don't believe I've ever seen a staybolted together boiler such as that before!?!?

Couldn´t help myself, and fired it "untouched".

As expected the boilerend gaskets did leak a tiny bit :D :D :D

...but at least it´s a runner, and will no doubt perform way better, once the leaks has seen a bit of attention.

Oh that's what it looked like. I thought the one with the extra parts was an overtype like your first one.

Unfortunately no manufacturer known Tommy.
Only piece of paper i´ve seen mentioning these, is an instruction manual for the horisontal.
It has the name "E. Bühler, Stuttgart" at the bottom, but that is believed to be a retailer as far as i am informed.

...and yes, if you´re thinking about the one listed with a few accessories as well, it is the one from last month.

Wow Jan, a horizontal style to go with your overtype. Do you have a manufacturer's name?
Did you get the one that was one Ebay last month?

Only "fancy" feature, besides the missing sightglass, is a draincock at the rear end:

Also, in the meantime i found out that these was indeed sold as an educational kit engine.

The simplest commercial product engine i´ve ever owned...

Loose boilerends bolted together, against papergaskets onto a thin piece of aluminumtube, and the engine and crankshaft ends simply being held under the boilerstraps.

I strongly assume this came as a kit or something, being simple as it is?

Very nice little runner Jan. I had that one for years and decided to try it for the Steam Up.
It surprised me. You got a keeper there.

Have had this for years here, but never got around to run it.

The other day i took it apart, and let the thick papergaskets in the loose boilerends soak in some lightoil, to get them swollen enough to hold steam.
The only other thing wrong with it, was that it needed a trunnion spring, and a new nut to keep it all together, and it was good to go.
As it came with no burner (or at least i can´t see how it should be used, the bent tintray accompanying it here), i just took one from a little Märklin, as that sort of fitted under there.
