Title: Re: Anyone built a "Big Laura" stirling kit?
Post by: ShadetreeMotorcycle on April 17, 2021, 09:31:26 pm
I pulled the trigger on a "Great Laura" material kit one week ago. Hopefully I will get to make a "build log" but it may not be any time soon...I did get a working tracking number from DHL and today they finally gave an update they where "preparing the package for outbound journey" after sitting on Laura for a week.... Maybe they are giving Laura a pep talk? Maybe she is afraid of airplanes? Sigh...so now we wait ::)

I sure do like your large Stirling Cycle engine.

Nice work...!!!

Oh...sorry Gil, I did not mean to give the impression this engine was mine!
It is an engine I admire and I am trying to work a deal on a kit.
I was hopeful someone here had built one. -Ben

Similarly to a Trophy girlfriend, I think she looks better without "makeup"?!
But the right color could be nice.
Second photo is kit contents.

It's quite a large Stirling engine (machining required) sometimes called Great Laura in Germany, has adjustable speed hand wheel.
I think it is quite elegant, with possible exception of burner, kind of looks just added on to the wood board. It could be left off in build as only a smallish flame needed to run this big girl. The tank may look better polished.
These kits are quite spendy and shipping is high to but price includes VAT tax and you can get them to remove 20% if you live in USA, and ask.
