I'll double down on David (vpro) being the absolute Bee's Knees when it comes to such micro-machining. The following images show miniature (1:20.3 scale) Baldwin locomotive number plates that he made for me a couple of years back. These plates are between the size of a US penny and nickel and the lettering around the rim is far smaller than a typewriter would produce, all of this being machined. Naturally, machined lettering around in a circular pattern is vastly more difficult than simple horizontal lines, and of course bigger letters are also far easier. I think my little project here likely pushed David's talents to near the limit .... but it is clear that he was fully equal to the task, as can be seen by the immaculate results shown here:

Most rectangular name plates for scale traction engines are far easier, I might almost say a snap, for David to produce, but in point of fact even those are far beyond my abilities as well, and it takes a real pro like David to produce such excellent results!!!
