Jim,
I often pick up metal items like this at garage sales, flea markets or thrift stores to use in a future project.  Or, you can always melt it down in the home foundry to cast your own parts.

Made in India and solid brass, I'm sure one day bits and pieces of it will come in handy for some steam project.
