I see another throw back on this engine. Besides the riveted boiler,
the regulator valve has a square inline body.
A better finish on ALL of the new boilers would be nice, can still
see the sanding marks. The older ones were polished up much better
to a higher shine.
Really do like the embossed Jensen on the chimney.
Congratulations are in order s3tbolt, you're the first kid on the block.

If you are thinking of getting one, you may want to get it. I think Doreta told me they only made like 30 of the riveted boilers and that was it. So the 25GR is going to be limited number of engines.
-
Nice video. The engine is tempting, but whether to invest in this new one or in a vintage engine, that is vexing.
-
I was wondering about this steam engine after seeing it on the Jensen Site, thank you for your video. I love all your accessories!
It is odd they didn't go all the way like Steamloco said earlier.

Got mine yesterday just put together this video enjoy https://youtu.be/TM2y4gZv7lo

Same here Randy.
I will not get to open them up until probably Sat or Sun. I have too much going on this weekend.
Excited though. 🙂
-
Checked tracking number. Says it will be delivered tomorrow. Looking forward to getting it.
-
I'll be waiting for your review, thanks.
Same here Randy 😊

Same here. I'll post a video and run one when they arrive. The first riveted boiler Jensens in almost 80 years. Awesomeness.

Ditto, will be looking forward to your report Randy :)

Can’t wait to see it Randy!

Well got a call today. Said they where ready to ship the first of the new retro 25GR out. So I have one on the way. We will see what it looks like in person soon. If you get one they are not putting serial numbers on the engine but the memo invoice will have the engine serial number on it. I was told the one I'm getting is number 5. If you get one keep the paper work with it.

Would like to see them go back to the straight handles on whistle, throttle valve and directional lever. Would look a lot better then the big gaudy handles they use now.
I agree, I like the earlier style also. I think it may be a safety enhancement, along with the extended inner levers -- to keep fingers further from the heat. Not an improvement, looks-wise, though.
Still, it's nice to see them shaking things up with this new model.

Rivets look great.

I talked to Andy Guy, he said they are a couple of weeks out and then will start shipping. He said the fire box is painted with VHT flat black paint, no changes to the engine. He explained the labor involved in the flat side valves and other touches are part of the costs. It was nice to get some Jensen history and insights from Andy. These engines are living history.

I'll post a video when it arrives.
Love it.

I'm sure like a lot of the Jensen collector's I'll have to have one. Would like to see them go back to the straight handles on whistle, throttle valve and directional lever. Would look a lot better then the big gaudy handles they use now. If and when I get one I'm sure I will change them myself. But it is nice to see them come out with something new.
Strange, they went so far with the rivets and squared throttle and didn't change the handles and water gauge. Those two additions might sway me.
If you're gonna go, why not all the way?
-
I think it looks great.
Has anyone bought one yet.
I must have been the first caller because the gentleman, not sure who, was very surprised and said he didn't know that it had been put on the website already. Apparently they aren't ready yet as he told me to call back Tuesday and the secretary (Dorita ?) would "put me on a list." I've lost a little of my initial ardor and may wait a while now.

Really happy to see Jensen doing something "new" - the riveted boiler is great! I wonder if the boiler will be available as a spare part - it would look good on an older engine that needs restored.
It still has the porthole viewing window Larry , I'm not sure if that would look appropriate on an older unit , but it would be better than nothing.

Would have been cool though, if the boiler had the old style watergauge, as that would have raised hope for renewed availability of a much needed sparepart as well.
Anyway...
Great initiative, and well done Jensen!!!

It would be nice to actually "see" the Jensen embossed copper smoke stack. A $187.00 premium over the standard #25G, collectors will buy them.
-
Riveted boiler! :o Way to go Jensen!!

Looks like a new variation of a 25G from Jensen. Don't know if the premium over a 25G is worth the cosmetic embellishments.
A Model 55 is cheaper, and a 55G is a few dollars more.
