Very nice comparison @crazydoug!  Now that I have a B-40, which is basically the same as my B-38 I want to find one of those mesh B-38's.  There was one on eBay not long ago, which was oddly painted mostly blue where it should have been red.  I almost bought it be it also annoyed me the screws had been replaced so I forced myself not to.  Clearly I have gotten to picky LOL

Both of these beautifully running engines, and a lovely comparison having them running here simultaneously...

Evidently, as another Forum member has pointed out to me, the B-38 with the mesh screen is the earlier version of the two, as it has "patent applied for" on the chrome cylinder cover.  And, the one with the finned cover has a patent date of November 10, 1925.
