What a beautiful piece.
Not sure if you ever got this tip, but you can make very realistic blades for model band saws from the serrated edge of a roll of aluminum foil.
Charlie, they are usually too thick, too weak, too wide and too short...
For my FALK or my large MARKLIN I need 40cm long bands.
However, they are made from the cheapest zink iron metal and won't run smooth but always want to rest in one position around the wheels.
I once got one 400 x 3 x 0.3mm saw band sample from the south german manufacturer, but it was much too thick to be driven.
First I tried to heat it up to get out the temper, but then is was too weak & too sticky.
Finally I ground it down to 0.1mm thickness on a 400 grit stone what took me 3 hours blood, sweat & tears...
Its ok now and has average running behaviour, but I won't do that once again!

Heavy Metal ... 🔩⚙
Another masterpiece of the iron casting craftsmanship, which has unfortunately long since died out, has been enriching the collection since last week.
[attachimg=1]
It is a 20cm high and almost 1kg heavy JOSEF FALK band saw from approx. 1905-1915.
[attachimg=2]
Except for the wheels and the guide bracket, the colossus consists of only ONE cast part, the saw table is also cast ...! 😮
[attachimg=3]
Neither have I ever seen this before, nor do I know catalog images etc. ...

WHO KNOWS MORE ...?
