I just replace the rivets with pop rivets, but i,m not a purist. I learned the hard way to fill the boiler with a proper funnel. A few dribbles of spilt water running down the outside will burn out the heater

I was hi-bidder for a Jensen 70 w/generator and when
it arrived it was well packed.
After a bit of oiling and after a test on air, I put
water in it and plugged it in. As it warmed up there
was some light 'smoke' but that slowed down just a bit.
The steam came up and there was quite a bubbling of
water coming out of the sight glass, but that stopped.
Otherwise, it heated up and ran well several times.
Today.....no heat. I checked the resistance....dead.
Apparently, the smoke marked the end of the heater.
My questions start with the biggie. Do I need to remove
the boiler and firebox or can the blanket heater be replaced
if just the boiler is removed. The firebox is riveted, and
I'd rather avoid that.
In fact, I'd appreciate advice from anyone else who has
done this. I'd rather avoid problems.
