This is a recently purchased little toy solenoid engine. I'm guessing that it is from 1930's to 1950's, maybe older. I'm sure it's a factory made item, but I have no information as to the manufacturer. It came with a very nicely made dovetailed stand made to hold the batteries and also a very nice dovetailed box to carry it in. I don't know if all of this was sold with the engine or if it was built by the owner. It took a little work, such as cleaning all of the contact surfaces, as these little engines used a connection between the solenoid, the axle, and the speed control as the ground circuit. This one now runs well on six volts. It's amazing that something that was sold as a cheap child's toy is still running many decades later!
