A great loss to the Model Engineering Community.
Although I did not get to meet him, I am so grateful that I got to see and admire many of his amazing creations that are now in Gil’s stewardship.
Heck, I even got to own one of his models for a day…a story for another day. 🤠

He was making those wine goblets at Names 2012. That's where I met Gil, along with Bruce and Angie.
Bill was overseeing Gil at the lathe turning out goblets too. Sad.

What a huge loss to the hobby , I remember the first time I had seen his work at the NAMES show in 1996 he was making miniature wine goblets on the turret lathe that he had built .We had to go back every year just to see what his next masterpiece was, he will be missed for sure .Jeff /Maryellen

I was fortunate to be able to read the entire article while lounging about in our hotel room , nice read about a very talented man, we are losing to many of these people.

It is with great sadness and fond memories that I report the passing of our friend Bill Huxhold. He passed on peacefully at 4:05 pm this afternoon.
His good friend Ron Melvin wrote the following:
To the Ontario Model Engineering Community,
It is with much sadness that I report the passing this afternoon of our friend and a remarkable model engineer, Wilhelm (Bill) Huxhold. Below is a message from his daughter with the details.
Bill was a very special friend and mentor to me. I was always amazed by his intelligence and knowledge, so much of which was self-taught. He was kind-hearted, had a great sense of humour and was extremely generous in helping other model engineers and sharing his vast experience and knowledge.
Bill will be greatly missed. Rest in peace my friend.

Hello Family and Friends
This is a time that we have all been anticipating. Dad/Opa/Your Friend has made his transition from life in a physical body to one that is more expansive and where he is rejoined with his love, Elisabeth. He took his last breath around 4:05 (http://calendar:T1:4:05)p.m. today (http://calendar:T5:today) Saturday, January 15 with the loving nurses who have been constantly at his side and caring for him for the last few weeks. His passing and leading up to it in the last two days, he has been peaceful.
We thank everyone for your love and prayers through this time. We would also appreciate it if you can spread the word, especially amongst his friend group, to the members of the Model Engineers, the Revolver Club, the places he would travel to share his creations.
Dad's request has been to be cremated and thus arrangements have been made for this. At this time the family has chosen to have a private ceremony. The interment will take place in the spring, as the cemetery that our parents chose does not dig in the winter. I know that there will be great peace that my parents are reunited in a whole new way.
We will be placing an obituary in The Toronto Star which I will be working on this evening. We are asking that in place of any flowers, that donations be made to the Church Mom and Dad belonged to Epiphany Lutheran Church, 20 Old Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario M1E 3J5 Canada (http://geo:0,0?q=20 Old Kingston Road Scarborough Ontario M1E 3J5 Canada).
We send Dad/Opa/Our Friend off with love and respect and wish him well in this new journey.
