It is clearly a Märklin 4149 from around 1911-1920. You can find information under the term in German:

The chimney seems to be not original and the head of the burner is missing.
Have a nice day, Arnold

Hi Barry, Your burner is missing the vaporizing burner top. These can sometimes be found on German ebay. There is also a fellow named Rob Vanderborn and he makes repros of these burner tops. Hopefully he still makes them.
Reach out to Rob here:

Nice find!

You have a Märklin, I’d have to look up the model number to be sure, but someone might beat me to it

Hi I bought this steam boiler, engine combo on Wednesday at an auction in Lancaster Co. I thought that it was a Carrette model, but I could not find it the Carrette catalog.
It has some interesting features like the water recovery pump and the steam oil reservoir in front of the cylinder. I would like to know anything that anyone can tell me of it's age and who manufactured it.
It is a quality unit by the way it is built and the features it possesses.
I had it running and it runs great with a good control of speed with the speed control in the steam chest. The only problem that I found is a slight H2O leak at the water level sight glass ( I'll see to that at a later date.
Again, any info would be greatly appreciated..... Barry Navarre
