Jim, I have no doubt we would be even better mates if we lived close to one another, we have both come to realize over these many years that we have much in common despite an ocean & several thousands of miles between us. I would love to be able to come to Australia one day and visit with you and your amazing country, & I hope you know you and Jen are always welcome here.

G'day Bruce :) I have had the pleasure of watching this a few timeS now to take it all in (I downloaded it in case YT took it down, they can be funny sometimes with copyrighted music playing in the background).
That was an enjoyable 12 minutes of viewing.
That was a 'tour and half' and appreciated you doing it very much, and you have an AWESOME space there Bruce!
The whole time I watched it, knowing that you're now retired and how much you enjoy being in your shop (love how you guys call them shops, we just call them sheds and 'shop' sounds great!) made me really happy thinking of you tinkering away now and whiling away the hours at a much more pleasurable pace, so happy for you :)
I do wish we lived in the same area, I could imagine visiting often and having a coffee or a cold one with you in there and shooting the breeze.
Thanks again for such a terrifically detailed tour Bruce, I reckon in the near future we're going to see even more great stuff being produced out of that awesome shop mate!

I will try to do a new video this weekend of my shop...I just haven't had the time...& most of my engines are not displayed, they're all on shelves many buried behind others.
Patience is a virtue that say....its been two years Bruce ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Doh...oh ,😳 the dog ate my steam shop, we had a forest fire , flood , pandemic...no wait ,that was you.
I offer no plausible excuse & throw myself on the mercy of the steam forum 😩
Ok...I'm going to knock it out Thursday or Friday this week Jim, embarrassed its taken me so long.

I made a video Jim, but I had some music playing in the background & I may have to remake it if it's blocked in some areas.

I thought this was a neat thread, but it has not been updated for a while. Here is a short video of my basement shop.

What an absolutely fabulous workshop!
We don't have basements in Australia, how do you guys get all the heavy machinery into your basements?
Also, just in case you didn't know - you have comments turned off on your YouTube Channel.

Better late than never? Here is the machine shop corner (the race car, a Formula Ford, has since departed), and the rest of the mess. (Attachment Link) (Attachment Link)
First things first . What is that empty space to the left of the red tool cabinet and in front of the scroll saw . I have vaguely heard it referred to as floor space and i thought it was mythical?
The other thing of interest has two wheel and is hanging up ?
Cheers

Inge what a terrific workshop space you have.

Steve what a BRILLIANT tour of your man cave mate, I was enthralled every minute. Thanks for taking the time on the video to identify all the First World War relics that you have collected. My Grandfather was an Australian Light horseman in WWI.
Just a terrific man cave!
Hello Jim it was a bit of a mish mash and being unscripted i kept forgetting the names of things which was annoying but i think most of it was self explanatory ....i missed a lot of stuff out because of time...i also have a 5 foot python in there as well which i forgot to mention ::) ...Steve

Steve, just spent lunch watching your tour. What a collection! The war items you've dug are impressive. Your collection has a great deal in common with mine...except I have substituted firearms for edged weapons.
The layout is quite nice, and well detailed. The spur with a timed stop is a great touch. I think I might take your idea and add a timed stop to my garden railway.
Thanks for the tour, I enjoyed every minute.
Hello Benny im glad you liked it..we cannot have a proper collection of firearms over here so i have to satisfy myself with swords and bayonets.
The timed branch line has two rails but the other is manual but soon i am going to wire it up and fit the electronics to make it a timed line as well....Steve
-
Hello Steve, impressive collection ! I especially like the train layout. very well done sir....I enjoyed that.
Thank you Bruce i have always had a train layout since i was about 10 years old in fact my train that i had back then has run on this layout and was in one of the sidings...Steve

Please show a Video or Photo tour of your workshop/work area, it doesn't matter how big or small it is. If its the kitchen table or the coffee table that you work with engines...that's ok!
I remember Bruce took us on a guided tour of his workshop some years ago.
Hello Jim i have been asked to add my rather untidy workshop to this thread, its rather long so only half my contents on the video...Steve

Steve, fantastic.
We like minded folks have the same interests and hobbies, that's why I like YouTube and forums like this, thank you for sharing with us.

Hello Gary it makes a change for people to want to see my stuff my family think its all junk ;D...Steve

Ah ha .... good on ya Steve. I see you found Jim's thread on workshop videos afterall, and went ahead and posted yours up.
Thanks again for the initial "private" tour, but I'm glad to see you are now sharing it with others as well. You have much of great interest to many of us here, much to be proud of, and well worth showing !!!

This is a tour of my shop from about 10 years ago. I built a room in one corner of the basement about 12' x 12'. I have since replaced the round column Enco mill with a Grizzly knee mill but a lot of my engines were built with this mill. Computer is new plus added tooling.

George, your shop video reminded me of meeting you at the NAMES show shortly after the little V-twin was completed!

These are definitely 2 shops to aspire for!
Thanks for posting the two great videos George and Jim.

Looks great Pete (so does the hound :) ) my space is tiny as well. You just get really clever at maximizing the space you have and also trains you (well sort of) not to be so messy :)
Me last shop.
-
Sneak preview.small but big enough for me.

George what a fantastic workshop, terrific pieces of machinery and that V twin engine that you designed is incredible. I could spend some time watching over your shoulder and learning a thing or two that's for sure!

Its a date Pete :)

My new shop will be all done in about a month so I'll bang some pics up then.

That's plenty enough and more ... to keep you busy all the day through!!!
Its nice to pass time mucking around Daniel :)

George and Jim:
Thank you for sharing the videos of your workshops.
Very impressive set-ups. I am drooling.

Great idea for a thread, Jim! You guys both have a sweet setup. Jim, your outside workshop is a good idea for my area, I just wouldn't be able to leave tools outside with the humidity here. My shop gets hot as all get out during the summer. A permanent workspace outside is brilliant.
George, your machine shop is impressive- I'd love that Craftsman. My Taig is...limited.
-
I'm really impressed by these workshops and the people who can use them - takes a lot of skill and knowledge!
