Wonderful photos Nick and that park was a real find.

The park in Sainte-Agathe was a little wet, and I was in a hurry to get back across the border, so I took some photos of the plaque, and now is the first time I've had a chance to read the history about the boiler

Seller also had this available. His dead has dementia (son of the Case builder) and has decided to get out of the hobby. The price was fair, but I have enough areas in the hobby for my collection and don't need to go another direction... If anyone is interested, let me know and I can get you in touch with the seller

(Has a wooden box and tender was in box below)

Nick:

Has it ever been fired?

Do you have a cart for the driver to sit on?

Charlie

It was finished some time around 1967 and was fired 2 times on coal, but only air since then. The builder died in '92 and I believe it has been sitting untouched since about 2002. The engine has been shown many times at the Estevan Model Engineering Show, and now that I have my passport, I might have to make the trip up there in October

https://www.estevanmodelengineeringshow.net

I do not yet have a cart, but I like the simple tractor seat and two wheel design on Ron Colonna's video. I'm sure you will remember his beautiful 1" Case from NAMES, probably the nicest one I have seen

Wow Nick that has to be one of the coolest engines ever. Big and strong no doubt. I know you run about all your stuff, so I’ll look forward to a video.

I definitely plan to fire this on coal, but I would like to wait until May until I have help from others that have used coal in such a small scale. But, I am sure I will give it a short run on air with a video before then  ;)

You will have to turn on your red eye setting on your camera the children look very envious of what Dads got, who wouldn't be that is one fantastic engine and I await pictures of it steaming.

Haha they were just some quick snap shots with a phone in the hotel room. I seen it was blurry and noticed the red eyes, but I had to get them away fast, too many small parts for two sets of little hands to be grabbing  :D

What a great family adventure Nick.

Congratulations Again!

I guess I am going to have to come to MN and see it in person.

If I had a bigger van, I would love to bring it to NAMES  ;)

Lordy, but that's a sharp looking unit. A real dream machine. I'm glad you were finally able to find one, Nick....I know you've been wanting one of these for a while, and MAN did you find a beauty!
Congrats, and can't wait to see her running.

I love all the photo's Nick (keep them coming) I know you sent me an e-mail about this some time back , but my computer "freezes" up so much I couldn't reply back then, my apologies for not getting back to you on here sooner, your boys are adorable & I can already see the resemblance to you in them. these little trips with the family will be life time memory's about their Dad & Mom for them...whether it be chasing down steam engines or whatever, they wont care as long as they get to spend time with you. Good on ya" Nick ! I am over the moon happy for you.

Thanks Jim, we also found this at a little park by the river while waiting for the seller to meet us near his home

This highway was too busy to park on the side, so I tried to get this picture from the end of someone's driveway. It's blurry, but reads "Mitchell 1KM". I took it, because my son is named Mitchell and has already been to Mitchell, South Dakota and now Mitchell, Manitoba by the age of 2

That was a road trip Nick, I bet the family have great memories and are now bushed.

They had some sleep in the car, but I'm sure a bed is a lot better!

Here we are leaving the hotel this morning, and yes the engine spent the night in the room with us  ;)  The wooden box fit in the van with less than an inch to spare

(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7808/32584376107_9972f5dc5b_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/RDnrN4)

This was also the perfect time to make the trip, as any earlier in the year we could have hit a snowstorm and if we waited another week, some of the roads may be under water from the melting snow... that was a ditch and corn field beyond the fence line

(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7849/33649963848_4661b4d2bd_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/TgwRUu)

We had to stop in Rothsay, MN to see the big prairie chicken

(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7862/46803069614_e4a0c79327_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/2eiPY17)

And Alexandria to see Big Ole. We vacation near Alex every year and all through my childhood, I had to take my picture sitting on Big Ole's foot. He was blonde when I was younger, but recently had a re-paint

Congratulations, an excellent machine. I am curious how did the US customs treated you?

Coming back to the US was easy, going into Canada was a pain and took about an hour.

Stunning engine Nick!, nice to see your engines getting bigger and bigger.

This one is getting to the upper limit at 150 pounds and the wooden crate just barely fit in the minivan at 48 inches long

Last Monday I headed to the big city to get a passport expedited

And now today we drove 700 miles (11 hours of driving) for my dream engine!  ;D
