UPDATE...last week I shipped the Jensen 50 and water tower to their new owner 2000 miles from here in California.  Fortunately the shipments arrived in very good shape with no damage.  I worry about such things until they arrive safe and sound.

I will try and get new owner to join this forum...he was not interested in the previous Mamod forum, but maybe this time around he will.

Finally figured out how to add a You Tube video....this is the new 50 after a run in of 90 minutes.  Took a fair bit of adjustment and tinkering, but it now runs beautifully.

The "Mike" referred to in the video is the soon to be proud recipient as I ship to him on 3/11/19.   Hope I did this right...I was struggling ling with the clickable boxes down below, but Classicx kindly told me to just cut and paste YouTube link right in the message...so that's what I did!

Rog how tall is the tower and the size of tank? What type of valve is a gate valve?

Carl, total height of the tower without the tank was about 14 inches...requested height by the fellow I made it for.  On top of the platform sits a stainless steel cookie jar/kitchen canister (many available on eBay, though often as sets of 4)... the one I used was 8.5 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter with a glass lid.  So, total tower with canister on was 22.5 inches tall.  Legs were made of 1/2 inch aluminum angle stock sold in 8 foot lengths at Lowes (took two total lengths with a bit left over).  Legs were screwed together with 3/8" SS screws and top and bottom were 1/2" plywood.  Bottom also had an additional 3/4" layer of plywood added to ensure the whole setup was not top heavy.

Valve used was made by Swagelok (via eBay)...only thing I would change with what I know now.  Better to get the kind of valve that opens and closes with 1/4 turn.  The one I used must have been designed for very high pressure as it takes about 15 turns to open and same to close.  I believe the quick open/shut type is a ball valve, slow open shut a gate valve...but I am happy to stand corrected.  A "bulkhead" brass fitting goes in the bottom of the canister for a waterproof outlet...that feeds about 11 inches of brass tubing which goes into the valve.  Nothing difficult with bulkhead fittings...lots on eBay.  Pricey from the US...dirt cheap from China...I opted for US everything given timing.

I have a few more pics of the tower and valve setup of you can use them...otherwise it is all boxed up and ready to ship this Thurs 3/14.

The water tower was modeled after one I built for my Jensen 51 replica plant assembled years ago, just a little shorter and a slightly smaller tank.  It was fun to build and good therapy for me as well!!!

A mouthwatering engine for an Aussie!

Steven, the new Jensen 50 came painted a slightly different shade of Hammertone blue...but since I needed to match up an old, rusty based Jensen 15 generator, I decided to paint BOTH a shade of blue I had on hand.  It is actually an automotive paint and I prefer it to the new color.  Sooooo, since I was modding the thing anyway, slightly different paint color not a problem!  If you look at the Jensen 50 picture of Carl's unit, you can see the original paint color they now come with.

That is a nice job on the water tower Rog.

Is the engine base colour now a different shade of blue on the new Jensens?

Now lets see if I can attach a couple of pictures of this recently tuned and modded Jensen 50 drop shipped from Jensen to me and a water tower built to accompany it.

The Jensen 50 basically just got a lot of Temple love...all surfaces refinished to a bit higher standard than Jensen gives them, addition of an older cast iron Jensen 15, addition of a functional exhaust stack with condensate drain out the back and a few more bits/tweeks to bring this Jensen 50 to the standard the new buyer was hoping for.

The water tower was modeled after one I built for my Jensen 51 replica plant assembled years ago, just a little shorter and a slightly smaller tank.  It was fun to build and good therapy for me as well!!!
