That's a wonderful one (and I followed it while it was on sale..., but beyond my price range).
No, it was a smaller version, slightly rusty, but a would have been a nice restoration object...
I missed it, because I was involved in getting the rigg of my small sailing yacht up. A proper reason to miss the auction of a ship's engine, I'd say... ::)

That's a beauty also. Is this one yours too? If it is, I missed the posting here.
Waiting for it to arrive, Tommy.

I share your predilection for ship's engines - and could kick myself somewhere that I missed a small Carette ship's at an auction in Germany...
:D
One man's joy is another man's sorrow - Greetings over the Lake, Arnold :D
This one?

And to beat Arnold on his private turf adds considerably to the value of this engine :D

Jim, congratulations; a very elegant machine in pristine condition.

> You can also lubricate the cylinder/piston by putting steam oil into the exhaust pipe/port and turn the flywheel by hand in reverse.
That's what I have been doing. Thanks!
-
Very nice Jim.

Both engines look great! You can also lubricate the cylinder/piston by putting steam oil into the exhaust pipe/port and turn the flywheel by hand in reverse.

Nice Engine Charlie!

Thanks, Charlie, good to see another one in operation. Mine doesn't have the displacement lubricator. What's the best way to lubricate the piston without it?
Lubricate the heck out of the piston rod is all I can think of.

A really nice example.
The patina on the boiler is perfect and your base is much better than mine.
Here is a video of mine being steamed from my YouTube Channel.

Thanks for your comments, Tommy and Arnold. Arnold, the engine was sold by Schuler Auctionen AG in Zurich, a lot in their March 2022 auction.
Jim
I have looked at Schuler but stumbled over it - But I am happy you got it

Congratulation Jim - wonderful model and very rare in this condition.
I wonder how you got this piece as I closely monitor the Swiss market and actually know every machine. The only consolation for me that it is now also in a beautiful collection.
I can only take my hat off - haha
Arnold :D

That's in beautiful condition Jim. I love the tile floor and have been seeing more and more
Bings in that fuchsia color, or is it poiple. Either way it's pretty. Nice acquisition.

I'm really interested in ship's engines. This nice early Bing model just came to me from Switzerland.
