I recently made me my own counterweight for the large BING Drill Press by saw cutting a piece from round steel.
After sanding I drilled a 5mm hole all through and another 2,5mm one for the M3 fastener.
Tapped the M3 threat and got ready.
Easy fix.

I don't see how you made it with the parts you described, but it looks great.

👍 Another option I have found are these fishing weights “disk sinkers”. Remove the “eye” and drill a hole all the way through

Until I can find an original, I made this one using a 3/4" brass hose cap, some zinc ballast, and a rubber washer from my plumbing parts can.
