Just wanted to say that the phonograph "engine" is really at home in this layout! Very cool! As for a dynamo it depends what you like the look of, I like the microcosm generator, but I usually prefer to be able to see the coils. Do you have an idea of how much power the things you want will need?

I wonder if the previous owner was trying to copy a larger version by putting that ring at the top

Please take a look at the attached steam engine.  I think it is a Marklin, the plate is missing but says Made in Germany.  Let me know if I am correct!

Also - is it missing a smokestack, if so, any suggestions on where to obtain one.

Lastly - I made a toy machine shop years ago (see attached), I am looking to add a dynamo, wiring and lights, any suggestions.

thanks
Dan

Hello Dan - this is a Maerklin for sure - but it has two modifications.
The Door of the fire place is home made like the chrome ring on the top
of the Boiler. Model Number should be 4107 from 1909 ? or later

Smokestack can be find: https://www.ebay.de/str/glueckskind101
Greetings, Arnold :D
