Title: Wilesco D10 oil and cleaning
Post by: yogurt348 on November 03, 2022, 12:05:25 pm
Just recently bought a Wilesco D10 off of Ebay that arrived today. Cosmetically, the front needs some polishing and corrosion is only on the surface. I could use vinegar to remove it but it's just too acidic. Baking soda and warm water should be better yes?. It has no throttle valve, so a post-sears model? There is no "Made in West Germany" markings on the base just "Made in Germany", so it's probably a 1991 or newer engine.

Also I heard online that the Mamod engines can use SAE-20-30 oil for lubrication, but can the Wilesco engines use it as well? A small bottle of steam oil is almost $8, where as 500ml of SAE 30 is only $4.
