Nice job Bruce ... it looks the part and provides a heavy base so the engine doesn't jump around like it originally did.

Clever use of the casters. I've often thought of using one for a small flywheel, but I've never yet got around to building an engine that needs one.

That's a good looking cart Bruce - I like the cast iron wheels and rough oak as it really does make it look correct.

Bruce that looks fantastic!

I guess if you wanted to modify it further you could add a larger fuel tank and an exhaust pipe.

Bruce, you have done it again.  I was looking forward to how you were going to pull this off.  I looked some online at cast iron wheels, but all seemed too big.  Your idea to turn them down on the lathe was great.  Cart looks real world right off the farm!

Sweet!

Rog

That’s pretty cool.  I’ve been thinking of building a skid out of oak to replace the box it comes with.  Be fun to see the other options people come up with.  Thanks for sharing yours!

my weekend project, making a cart for the hit-n-miss engine.
the "rustic" look is intentional, the cast iron wheels came from Menards (less than $4.00 ea.) they are 2" cast iron casters , they have been trimmed down (narrower), cleaned up & had about 15 minutes lathe work on each, small holes drilled & beveled, hub cleaned up straight & true. all electronic components are hidden inside the oak frame, there is a plate that can be removed from underneath to access the batteries & spark box, I actually had planned on making a set of wheel chalks for it....but it doesn't really move much now with the additional weight. it rolls very well even though it doesn't need to...lol
