Nice work on those engines. I really like the one with the pump.
...when I received the engine, the pump sat quite loosely on the base. The movement of the pump-gear was directly transmitted to the boiler...

You did a fine job on those two. Now you have a couple of real beauties.
...still some finishing to do!

I tried to restore two 642 Carette engines. A rather small (though not the smallest!) 642/2 and a big 642/5/P (P=feeder pump), this one with the famous "Umsteuerung" (reversing valve gear, patented for Carette in 1906). The smaller one has a less sophisticated valve gear without the "Rollapparat" (roller bearing for the slide valve). Two centenarians...
Don't want to bother you with too many details, just two videos (+ slo-mo for good measure) and a photo of the 642/2 in the state it arrived in.
Both engines are lacking their chimneys, for the larger one I borrowed a Märklin (replica) chimney.
The smaller one runs on a 2-wick burner borrowed from a Doll 505 roller, the other burner is the original one...
Don't hesitate to ask any question.
Hope you like it.
