Yet another amazing creation from SPS!

Great idea to build one of these, and very well executed :)

Well Bruce you never fail to amaze do you!
Fantastic mate!

What was the trommel before it was a 'trommel' ?
I guess I don't understand the question Jim. it was a purpose made model toy, if you're asking what/where the sieve came from, it is this smoker tube.

Yes, I was asking what the trommel (the stainless steel tube) was before you made it one.

Yep, I think that is just what Jim was asking about, as I had the same question in mind!

Hello fellow steamers
This is a prototype model diamond mining Trommel that I decided to build. turns very easily from most steam engines that are capable of doing any kind of work. it weighs 1 lb 15 oz's , 5" wide x 13" long & 7 3/8" tall. the sieve is 1.5"od x 8" long & rides on 4 roller ball bearings, the axle is also supported by (2) roller ball bearings with a Jensen 100 drive wheel on the outside. it has a copper bell on top reduced down to 1" with an angle elbow feeding the material into the sieve.  the premise is to separate the media mixture from the potential diamond's that are hidden in the mix. this is powered by my Jensen #35 1/2 steam engine & my Jensen Dbl. transmission which powers it with ease.
