Title: Re: Weeden #37 Steam Engine with Force Pump - Bad Boiler!
Post by: komet163b on January 06, 2023, 02:08:35 pm
pdate...I put 4ozs of water in and.....there is a leak
in the bottom of the boiler.  I've never dealt with a
bottom leak before.  I'll have to take the boiler off,
clean the black smudgy junk off the bottom, and see how
bad it is.  I hope it is just a single pinhole and not
bunch.  Maybe I can seal it somehow.  Someone must have
left water in it - and the boiler is steel!  Curses upon
the person who did this.

Title: Weeden #37 Steam Engine with Force Pump - first run
Post by: komet163b on December 28, 2022, 02:22:50 pm
Good afternoon from Brooklyn...

I finished a short run of my Weeden #37 Force Pump engine.  It was pretty
dirty but cleaned up a bit.  I hooked it up to my KJ Miller air pump and off
it went and all good and airtight.  I took a guess at which end of the pump
was which - in or out - and guessed right.  It is not a classy engine but
is fun and has the possibility of working better, once I fix the interference
problem between the cylinder top and the 'pressure evening' vessel.  Another
oddity from a company that produced a bunch of them.  Check the video...
