That is a very complicated & complex engine to build & wasn't done by anything short of a fairly competent machinist. I spent quite awhile following all of the lines to see where they went or were hooked to. This plant looks very complete, I believe I see a water tank, eccentric driven water pump, plunger pressurized fuel tank, boiler with several supply valves, if yoh could tell us the OD of the flywheel and the size of the boiler that would give us a better idea of scale.

If that in-line compound engine is anywhere near as well built as it looks like it should be, then it could actually be worth quite a bit, as in four figures easy. If its potential value is of real concern than I would certainly recommend against any ham-fisted novice attempt at restoration. A true Steam Mechanic or good machinist may be what you need, if you are not such yourself. This is most definitely not an engine that would be easy for a beginner to learn on, but if you could source a serious model steam builder/collector to mentor/tutor you, then you may find this to be an incredibly satisfying learning experience!

Right off the bat it does look like a one-off, so
it may be difficult to determine a value because
there are no comparable sales. Have you tried
running it on compressed air? It will be worth
more if it is a runner.
Ultimately, the only way to find its value is
to put it up for auction. Maybe a 'Buy it now
or best offer' type listing with a high starting
price to make your sister happy.

Thank you for the reply! My sister has her heart set on it being valuable so she can sell it! Secretly I hope the answer is no so I can try and refurb it myself. Would you know how much roughly it's worth? In the hope that the answer is ' not very much', would you be able to advise on books etc. so I can buy to teach myself how to refurbish it safely.

That looks like a compound engine - high and low pressure cylinder
with water pump and a functional regulator. This was probably made
by a professional mechanic from scratch. I do not think that it
has was manufactured by a company.
Could be nicely restored....

Hello Everyone!
New to the forum and the world of steam engines! Wondering if anyone can tell me what type of engine and boiler this is below? It was found in my sisters new house.
Would it be possible to refurb valves etc. and get it running again without the risk of yhe boiler exploded?
I am entirely new to the 'game' but want to learn.
