Thanks all, yes they are really nice (surprisingly nice) engines and look very nice all brass.
I followed around 20 or so auctions till I eventually scored a cheap one like Nick did.

Very Nice Presentation Jim!
You and Nick certainly scored a couple of very nice Microcosm "loss leaders" in those fully accoutremented S-10 engines. When you think of what all is involved, the "normal" $280 price-tag, with free shipping, seems a very fair price as well it seems to me. I too have scored a few times on Microcosm loss leader deals, where like you, no other bidders bumped the price up on an initial offering. Always considered myself very lucky when that occurred!
Just as a guess, the bargain basement pricing on this particular engine may be over and done, unless later on they find that they have an overstock situation and they are not moving well. Only time will tell if that scenario presents itself somewhere down the road?!?!
Meanwhile, enjoy those little beauties that you now have, and I'll be interested to see just how well those governors actually function in controlling the steam throttle.

I see the starting bids are now set higher, check out some of these sold listings, even cheaper than mine… two under $100 in December!

Bonjour Nick,
Lucky man ;)

Bonjour Nick,
115 $ ? I read 250 or 290 $ on Jin's site :
http://www.microcosm-engine.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=S10&x=18&y=8
I would also be interested by one at tour price, but there is a difference between a S10 and a S10B.
I won mine on one of his ebay auctions for $115 USD ($150 delivered after shipping and tax)
Mine is like Jim’s, the S10 with governor

Good comparison Jim, I was on the fence about buying one, but for $115, how could I turn it down?? My S-50 with working governor was more than 5x the price
