Yuppers. Just wanted to add that the there is play
when it is not running. I have two PM engines I built
from machined kits and they were fine, so that is a
plus. I also have a PM1 and boiler machined by someone
else and they are fine. Maybe the PM machinist had a
bad day. Four out of five ok....not bad results.

I have one of those as well John, bought it from Carl out of California I believe. It was machined sloppy and has a lot of play in the bronze bearing area, take a lot of oil & frequent oiling to keep it quit. Loose tolerances and aside from making new bronze bearings I think your stuck with how its behaving.

Well....I built one last year, and when running as a motor it
for sure chatters at some speeds. Perhaps an earlier production
batch was machined closer to specs. It does work, looks nice, and
with the heft has real American-Style gravitas. It would be better
without the chatter, but... I'll live.
Good Luck,

Anyone else have a noisy PM Research generator? I got one about 10 years ago and it worked great. I got another one a month or so ago and it growls and chatters a lot. I have to use more oil on the brush end than I do on the engine. If anyone else had this problem and found a solution I would like to know it.
