I am drooling already Roger...and so very happy to once again be able follow a project-thread from ToS again!
I think i might have worn out, all previous threads and movies from the Temple of Steam completely, during the last couple of years 8)

In Nov. 2022, I purchased via eBay a "restored" Jensen 50...turned out to need a bit more restoration!
My appreciation to Bruce of SPS who machined a handful of new parts to replace worn or missing bits. His handwork will be shown in Part C.
Having just finished this project, I will share the process via three parts...this is Part A...mostly the refinishing steps.

Engine as received...not bad looking, though the color scheme was wrong for a mid-1960's engine

Original data tag (later replaced)
[attach=3]
Badly stained original wood base before refinishing
[attach=4]
Bin full of parts to be re-refinished
[attach=5]
Cast engine and generator stripped prior to refinishing...notice "correct" color showing in engine's old paint
[attach=6]
Flywheel and generator parts being stripped
[attach=7]
Repainted cast parts, ready for reassembly
[attach=8]
Repainted firebox and chimney base
[attach=9]
Refinished wooden base after lots of sanding, hole plugging and 5 coats of polyurethane
