Chiltern Steam did say in their reply to my email that they are not manufactured by them which was a little sad as I was hopeful of finding engines with less problems. As you said Gil it may be long while but until then I'll just keep reading the threads on the Chinese engines.

Rodnoc is correct.... This is manufactured in China by Enjomor.

It is a nice looking scaled down copy of the 1/2 scale Breisch Olds.

If you'd like to have one, you can get it for 315 USD after the discount of 10%. If you use the discount code REDRYDER you will be helping this forum. My discount code REDRYDER is good for everything offered by stirlingkit.com

If you want to wait for a UK company to offer an affordable hit and miss engine, I rather suspect you will be waiting a long time.

Amazingly I got a reply already but am a little disappointed that it isn't manufactured in house - maybe later.

"These have been bought in. We make some minor improvements as well as checking over - all parts have been of good quality and positive feedback from the customers who have bought them.

It is our intention to design and build our own IC engine but that might be a while."

I sent an inquiry to Chiltern this morning inquiring as to the origin and manufacture of their kit. It will be interesting to see if they respond and, of course, their answer. I must be a little naive as I assumed, and hoped,  it was an in house built item but now there is some doubt after your comment - hopefully we'll find out.

I doubt it's British, it sure looks like the Enjomor engine.  Here are some comments about the Enjomor in this forum https://tinyurl.com/yjcsmnea .

Bonjour Larry,
I have bought several Hit & Miss engines to chinese manufacturers with various results because I think they have no quality control at the end of the build so their operation can be a lottery.
Based on what I see on the pictures, the electronic module among others also comes from China and lot of parts look like my M92 ones so...
Besides this, if you have a good friend mechanic, that helps  ;)

Has anyone bought or have any ideas on the hit and miss gas engine kit from Chiltern Model Steam? It looks nice to me and I know they make really nice steam engine kits so I was wondering if it was a viable alternative to the Chinese engines.https://www.chilternmodelsteam.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=68
