Thanks for the photo comparison Richard, I assumed it (the fin) would fit both models but I wanted to cover myself just in case there was a difference

Looks like you have another windmill vane on eBay. The one before went to nearly $70... supply and demand! I'll have to see how this new one goes as I need one for my brother's but it also needs a fan (one blade is busted).
Edit:
I just noticed on your sale "this one fits my Empire #56 model, not sure if it also fits the taller B-36 or No. 36 model". Here is a photo of them back to back. For mine, the only difference is the older one has "Empire" on both sides of the vane/tailfin. Otherwise they are the same.

Just the sign, as I watched the video of your vane creation!
So now I know your "trophy guy" secret too. ;c)
-
How do you go about producing those signs?
Trade secret no doubt!?!? ;c)
Are you talking about the vain itself ...or the "Empire" logo metal tag, which was produced from my very talented trophy & tag maker & lifted from an image on-line.

very nice Bruce!

finished tail fin, with metal Empire logo.

that looks perfect Bruce - though I haven't any cutting tools to even attempt it!
-
Too cool Bruce .... you beat me by a mile. I haven't even started looking for a suitable piece of sheet metal yet, and you've gone and made a spec drawing, then even completed a vane from that drawing!
You the MAN!!!

fabricated a tailfin from my measurements...

That's a pretty cool setup on that Windmill to run without a Steam Engine.
@Stoker - I have another Empire Windmill that is missing its wind vane (and broken fan too). If you happen to make a wind vane, I'd love to be able to buy a one if you could make two. I had hoped to get some various Empire parts from Steward but that never panned out :(

Awesome Bruce, way more than I asked for as I figured just length and width and I could freelance the rest. But now I have what amounts to an engineering drawing that should produce an excellent end result!
THANK YOU soooooooo much!!!

Say there Bruce ... might I trouble you once again by asking for a quick set of dimensions from the wind vane on that Empire windmill, before you move it on? Just a simple length and breadth would be fine, as that would really be all that was needed to make a set of "tail feathers" for my windmill.
here you go Daniel...
a measured drawing of the Empire steam windmill tailfin. don't forget to angle the bend in the curve to compensate for the angle of the structure. drill the 2 small holes in the loop before bending.

Bruce, got a chuckle seeing YOU electrifying a wind mill and doing so with great effect. Never heard of the Mighty Midget motor, gotta keep an eye out for one of those.
Rog
That Mighty midget motor was already on there when I received it, I liked it so much I left it on after giving it a cleaning and tune up.

Certainly Daniel, I'll text you tomorrow.😊

Hi folks.
I received this Empire windmill a year ago & did just a bit of work on it to get it into good running condition. I believe it's the N0.56 version as its 21" tall but seems to have a few characteristics of the N0.36 version as well, the uprights are not nickel plated nor have they ever had Ivory paint on them that I can tell. it also has the stamped-out ladder instead of the wire version, I found an old cell phone charger that puts out 5 volts & works well powering the unit (albeit a bit noisy)
asking $400 + $22.00 shipping (USA only)
