Funny, "faux" faux governor! Which that B33 was donate to Al by Charlie or so that page says.
I'm sure if I had the nameplate but was missing the governor I'd be whinging about that! I think it is pretty lucky having the stack too, seems those are often missing too. The upside I can turn it so I don't see the nameplate missing (out of sight, out of mind LOL).
I'll just have to keep my eyes open, who knows perhaps I'll find a donor and then could pass on the rest to another person that needs what left.
I did donate it to Alan and I have donated several other engines to him for restoration, including an interesting Bing Wolf engine for restoration.

Thanks Charlie - we still need to connect so I can get at least that label for it that you offered me - mine is so sad looking without its nameplate ;-)
And now you have the tag and the Empire sign. ;D
100% - I love that sign and it looks great behind my primary display in the living room!

I just watched your two videos in this thread Rich.
Well done sir!
;D ;D ;D

Nice! [attachimg=1]
Parents must have loved the "safety" aspect of these models. The little sparks at the contacts are cool!
-
What a cool engine, I don't ever remember seeing one of these before.
-
I just thought, I should be showing the swings more - they cost me enough! Also, they show how the engine speeds up after a bit too and you can hear it in the engine noise too.

Much improved Richard, handles the load with ease & looks great as well.

I thought I do another video after all the clean up I could manage and have a bit of "action" play with some accessories on my desk.
Oh, you may notice she is running faster than my first video (and she is under load now too). I cleaned up the contacts and adjusted them (the sparky parts you see) and then also cleaned up the pads on the 4 coils under the hood. When I had those bits all apart I cleaned/buffed/oiled the shaft surfaces.

Having the original faux governor is rare. It is often missing.
Somewhere on the internet, I read of one chap who restored one of these. He actually cast a replica from aluminum for his engine. Guess you could say he had a "faux" faux governor. ::)
Edit: In fact, here's the link: http://www.alspcs.com/EmpireB33.html

that's cool...
I suppose one option is to send off a tag and have blanks made... then figure out how to fill in the bits?

Congratulations, Rich! Very nice example of an unusual model.
Too bad about the AWOL tag. There are companies out there who can make waterjet and laser cut parts from a DXF, places that can make water-slide decals, or stickers, from your own artwork. There must be someone who can make an etched name plate if you give them a reasonable image to work from.
I've restored them before, with pretty good results, but you need an original tag first. :-\
Good luck!

Here is after some light cleaning and polishing.

so... if anyone ends up with a "part out" B-33 and has the information tag I'd be so very grateful to have the opportunity to procure it from you. Not likely to ever happen I think to have a "part out" B-33 but I suppose I'll never know if I don't put it out there and ask ;-)

Got in my B-33 from SlowJoey, I bought this engine and the Empire #43/Laboratory Materials Turbine outside of eBay. Video for the turbine coming after this one :-)
She is a noisy engine for sure and has some modern replacement wiring underneath the base. The B-33 is nearly complete, only missing the Empire information tag :'(
