Wow Bruce......you turned an agonising job into literally a 10 minute job with minimal cleanup when the paint dries.

I had tried masking tape but it didn't work....BRILLIANT suggestion to use electrical tape and stretch it around the corners
which worked stellarly!

Its midday Thursday here and the sun is now baking these already!!!

What I have done Jim (many times) is to use electrical tape across the top of the pulley stretched over both sides somewhat, then use spray paint of your choice on the spokes ,have a drill bit of appropriate size to be able to slide into axle bore (if needed), strip off electrical tape and clean off over spray with a crisp edge cloth and Q tips spayed with carb cleaner (not dripping). Light coats is the order of the day and I really try to stay away from the 2X spray tips on some paint cans....its just to heavy of a spray no matter how careful you are. Good luck.

How about painting the whole thing with a rattle can, then turning it on the lathe with some Scotch Brite or similar to remove the paint from the smooth flywheel rims.

Hey all :)

I would really like to paint these spokes (I have two to do) with red enamel.
I'll have to use a brush and thinking of buying the small Humbrol type of model paint.

Not sure if it will look ok?
Any hints for a professional finish with no brush marks?

I'm in two minds as I'd rather leave them as is if its not going to look good.

Any thoughts?
