Howdy Rog
It was you and your website that did "THIS" steam thing to me, lo those many years ago!
Certainly, all the best wishes I can muster in hopes that you can bring it back. I cannot count the number of times I have made reference to it, nor how many folks I have recommended it too!!!
Well stated Daniel, Roger was an early mentor to me & I used his TOS website from the day I learned of it, glad for its return to an earlier state.

Well done, Doug krypto!
Hi Rog, I was sorry to learn your website was lost by your new not a choice host.
You built and maintained an amazing website that has served us all well for years!
Good on you Rog for giving us such a great source of knowledge, history and of course good tips.
I wish you success in restoring it.

Doug, Temple of Steam circa 2015 is now downloaded to my computer. Thank you sir!
If anyone has a more current backup than 2015 it would be appreciated...my limited computer skills are showing...why didn't I do this myself regularly??? Because I trusted Webs.com to not delete my website (and another I maintain for a conservation club I belong to).
Lesson learned the hard way.

correction...it IS downloading, just taking it's time

Doug, local copy file will not open for me :(

I thought I could attach the zip archive of your website to this reply, but perhaps it's a little big for that.
You should be able to download it here:
Temple of Steam Local Copy (http://doug.sdf.org/files/temple_of_steam.zip)
Just load the index.html file in the root of the directory and the website should display in your web browser.
-
definitely helpful...please DO send zip file.
thanks much,
Rog

Rog, I learned long ago that the internet isn't forever so I always make local copies of really important websites and the Temple of Steam was one of them. Looks like my local copy is from 2015.
I can make a zip archive of the directory and send it to you (~170M) if this would be of any help.

Bad news for all of us that relied on it for repair advice. Good luck with restoration.

A number of members have reached out to tell me my website is down. I originally set it up many years ago with a host called "Webs.com" service from them has been good til now. Recently they were purchased by Vistaprint and the website hosting business was sold off to a Canadian firm called "ExactHosting". Seems not all websites made the transition cleanly. My "IndianaRog" website and another I manage were both lost...Webs.com help desk was of no help and ExactHosting claims my websites never made the transition.
So...all is lost for now. I will try and reassemble things using Archives.org's "Wayback Machine"...but that approach is clunky at best. Ughhhhhhh
