Title: Re: A Sad Day
Post by: Tony Bird on March 15, 2024, 04:10:20 am
Hi Daniel,

Just picked up on this thread. Very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend of many years, my wife and I have been pets to many cats for most of our adult lives. Alas when the last one passed away a few years ago we decided not to have another because with family moved away and friends that are no longer with us, so we didn't have anyone to look after when we were away. There is still evidence of their occupation; the cat flaps, the scratches on the banishers rail, the loose threads on some of the furniture...
We very much enjoyed your stories and photographs, they brought back some lovely memories, though the dead presents they sometimes brought home isn't one of them.
Take care Tony.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all my Forum Friends, for allowing me to go so far off topic as to cry on your shoulders!

The sympathy and empathy that you have evinced here is greatly appreciated, and I assure you that it has not gone amiss.

YourCat was truly special in many ways, smartest damn cat I ever did know, while being a fine companion as many cats can be.

We lost his "brother" Mauser, also a B&W Tuxedo only a few months before, making this loss sort of a double whammy that was a bit more than I could bare alone!

Fear not, we do still have Charlie, our "Half-Cat" that actually belongs to the neighbors, but he comes and visits us almost daily, and often several times a day. We also have "Stray", a cat that was deathly scared of us all through the winter of 2022/23, which was a record winter of about double normal snow and heavy ice storms too. The poor little guy would hide in our woodshed, under the wood trailer, under our vehicles, and anywhere else he could find to get out of the weather a bit, but for some reason remained leery of us that whole winter, though not so leery as to refuse the food we set out for him. The good news is that during last summer, he finally did quit being such a scaredy cat and is now definitely a part of our household, though still pretty shy.

So please bear with me just a little longer here while I show the whole herd:

YourCat, also Yourie or Yo, where he shouldn't be, with a prism rainbow last summer:

Mauser, Meowser or Mouser, at 21 or 22 yrs of age last summer:

Charlie, our Half-Cat that belongs to the neighbors behind us:

Stray, our newly "domesticated" friend:

I think we're going to be OKAY, but your kindness and caring is greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry for YourCat's passing as I know it leaves a large empty space in your heart. Cats are special - they choose to stay with you because they want to, not because they have to.  Hope you're able in time to find another to bring something special into your life.

Well said Larry.

My heart is sad for YourCat and you and your family.
I hope, in time, another kitty will find its way into
your heart.  I'm sure you will be so blessed.  I was.

Our dear friend YourCat breathed his last yesterday evening about 8:00pm, after living on borrowed time for the last six months or so.

Suitably gray overcast skies this morning as we interred him with gray overcast feelings.

Fairwell my fine little friend, you are deeply missed already!
