I believe there were lawsuits in the 70’s which is why they went to solid fuel. Doesn’t help that new owners have just taken over Mamod in the past few months.
Wow, that stuff I didn't know.
I have maybe five bricks of those esbit boxes.
I use them too once in a while, it brings back my first experience of
model steam engines.

Looks like they've already begun adapting. The article is clearly sympathetic a bit alarmist (a good thing in this case). No one likes a forced change.
Can they go back to sprits burners? or is all gas the way to go?
How about tooling up for electric heat..... satisfying the government and the greenies!

I think after people try the Sterno like stuff, they will prefer it.

They’ve already released their version of sterno in a bag and have put their gas burners on sale. There was a petition started a couple weeks ago against the ban. I stocked up on Esbit because Amazon had it on sale. Not my preferred fuel, but I love burning it every once in awhile as my first engine was a Jensen 76.
I kind of enjoy the smell of them. I can tell it isn’t good
To breathe, but neither is gasoline fumes. ;D
If they didn’t make such a mess I’d use them more.

Just saw this story on Mamod, and the effects that the ban on an ingredient in the fuel tablets is having, at least for now.
