Thanks guys, I am glad you like it.
As it stands it is really just for show although it does create a modest amount of sawdust and given enough hours of running would probably cut all the way through the log - any weight on the blade does however cause it to dig in and stall, a finer blade would be more suitable to cut realistically .
It will run with a less powerful engine, I have here an earlier video with the saw in its unfinished state and powered by a Mamod based portable which is a recent creation:

It is indeed amazing how well it is driven by that little #65, but just imagine what it could do tied to a #20 or similar sized steam plant!?!?
I'm really surprised that the aggression tooth pattern doesn't bring it to a screeching halt, he's got it "perfect" for display.

The more I look at this the more I like it 😊👍 I'm really impressed that the little Jensen #65 runs it so effortlessly, must be that it was built so efficiently buy its maker.

Another truly AWESOME accessory you've created there Dave. You really have a knack for repurposing Meccano gearing, discarded items and other materials!
Only thing I would suggest might be an adjustable clamping weight for the back edge of the saw blade that could be placed out near the tip, to give a bit more "bite" to the saw teeth, but perhaps that would be too much and cause the saw to dig in and jam the motion.
In any case, that drag saw is SUPER, no doubt about it!!!

I made this a few years ago, it never got properly finished until recently.
The saw blade is for a folding garden pruner which was well used (hence the irremovable staining!) until the handle broke - well, what else would anyone do with a perfectly usable and still sharp blade?
So it got repurposed, along with some mild steel flat bar, scrap wood and Meccano gears in a custom brass housing, the drive wheel is Mamod.
And it works quite well - here with the Jensen 65 for which a firebox repaint is overdue:
