I picked up another Carl Pilletteri Empire engine from Slowjoey last week and it came in today! It was on eBay for about a week and only one other bidder was going for it, I came in at the end and snatched it up! I really thought more would bid on it or the other bidder would have had a higher top bid. In the end I sent Slowjoey a $150.00 check to get it to me when we side stepped FleaBay after the auction closed.
I'm guessing this No. 62 is a pre-war engine but I really don't know what makes it different from a B-43. So perhaps it's post war? All I did to it was clean up the sight glass, its fittings and install new seals. I didn't take anything else apart. I did polish it but hardly had to work hard at it (it already looked pretty good out of the box). It couldn't have been steamed to many times in its life, just enough to get some calcium rings on the sight glass. Then it must have been stored in a very nice environment all of its life.
Here are some photos, I'll do a video later. I think I'll pull all my No. 62's in a video since I have a number of them. This is the only one with the older style badge above the power code - all the others are stamped No. 62 at the bottom.
