Dennis has given me some good ideas to try and I have been able to get the below pdf book, I'll read that later and see if it mentions anything -

Well, to be frank, I would need to have it all in hand and actually "see" what it is doing, before I'd want to hazard a guess as to just what is actually up in a situation like this. Gas is funny stuff, and trying to outguess issues remotely is mostly a futile gesture.

Sorry mate.
Not my area of expertise.
I am surprised that you didn't get any other replies.

Need some gas help from the brains trust.
Below pic is-
Top is DIY second one is a BIX, a size 16 gas jet works perfectly in the BIX gas line to light the largest ceramic BIX burner with perfect shaped 'blue devils'.
The DIY one with the very same size 16 gas jet installed floods way too much gas.
For the life of me, I can't figure out any difference between the BIX copper and brass fitting to the DIY one I constructed.....anyone got any ideas?
I have swapped them over and over and over testing and its always the same.
