Black gates engineering S/V atop the Jensen boiler.  Please note:  this has been adjusted to pop at 28 psi.  These incredibly well made SV’s can be adjusted by turning a set screw on top of the SV.  I tested it with a manometer on another boiler and using a scrubber adjusted it to pop off at 28.  It can be set as low as 15 psi, and as high as 80.

Shout out to Charlie, he had a few of these laying around and gave me a spare.  I’d say they’re the best SV’s to date.

Nice.....now whack a flat belt on her and lets see it doing some work!

@Jim I cleaned up the PFE tape. Took a while.  I just left it on the exhaust union, but otherwise cleaned it up everywhere else. I used a scalpel and a scriber and then a blow torch to clean up the stringy mess.

Looks fantastic!!!!!!! Yes, when you pull it off it can be a major PITA how it stretches and strings out, blow torch was a clever idea.

Bonjour,

Beautiful static plant indeed, quite easier to maintain than in a hull.

Happy owner of several D10, my preferred steam machine, I have had an issue with one of them which rust because just left without anything done after a navigation.

So my "usual" question is : How do you prevent its cylinders from rust ?

Nice ! I am like you , about those PMR fittings . I've spent enough on them to pay off 8% of the national debt ! I really like using them .

Will get there… added chuff pot on very interesting use of space.

Hey folks!

Today I assembled a mini Stuart Double 10V hybrid plant.    This plant is very basic but functions as I expected.  PM research pipework with PFE tape in between joints prevents any and all leaking under steam.  Jin whistle & governor functions as normal, controlling speed.  These double 10V engines can run so fast I'd see it breaking apart!  It has an oiler but I am not sure who makes it.  It isn't a PMR or stuart oiler (?)

I am just using a plastic cup with drilled bore for the oil catch and condensation.  I may hook up a chuff pot to it or get a metal condenser tank.  I don't plan on adding more to this plant, but perhaps a water pump and another stuart S/V set to 30 psi. (Max psi on a jensen is 25-30.)
