Runs great Rog and the Karsten motor looks purpose built for the job and doesn't look out of place at all.
Nice to see another functional accessory!

I would love to know that as well Rog, but havenīt been able to lure it out of him...
I strongly suspect that it is some sort of "standard" DC motor, fitted in a Gintschel manufactured cover, but have no idea of the source.
Back when i got mine, as i grew tired of dismantling my hammer accessory, the possibility of adding the hammer motor as a standard accessory was discussed, since it works perfectly for powering nearly any toy steam accessory from the Tornado plant.
We even named it "DynaMotor", since it so nicely doubles in both roles. Guess it got forgotten during Karstenīs break, after the Wilesco adventure, since i havenīt seen him list it on Ebay.

For added realism, a minor concern could be the direction of rotation.
It appears as the wind hits the wings from the rear, which shouldnīt be possible on a windmill of this type.
(unless your camera speed tricks my perception)
I have a standalone hammer-motor here as well...
It nicely doubles as a well functioning dynamo, when driven from a steam engine, since it is the exact same unit used as the dynamo on the Tornado turbine.
Jan, you are very observant...I need to switch the wires going into the banana jacks so that the windmill spins as one would look at if from the front. I noticed same as you, but only AFTER I made the video!!
I would love to know the original source for that DC motor/dynamo Karsten used in his hammer/forge accessory...it could be useful in other ways !

its always a pleasure to see the "51R" again Rog, that's a fine (and clever) conversion of the windmill & turning at a lovely "realistic" rotation. lots going on with that magnificent plant. a fine job Sir.

That motor does a nice job running the windmill.
It makes your 51 something special and different.

A few months back, Bruce of SPS gave me a wonderful gift of one of his 17 inch windmills setup to work off an onboard pulley tethered to a steam engine pulley. My original desire was to make this work with my Jensen 51 replica, but I just couldn't figure out a good pulley alignment, so it sat for several months while I kept thinking about it.
Recently I saw a motorized hammer/forge accessory listed by Karsten Gintchel on eBay. I did not need the forge part, but I was fascinated by the thought of incorporating the motor into Bruce's windmill and powering it from DC power my 51 replica makes.
