Stoker....I agree with you about the KJ Miller similarities.
The way the steam inlet works is different and might be more
durable.  Those KJ's are addictive.

This engine is somewhat reminiscent of the beam configuration offered by the K.J. Miller's J.E. #100, also a notedly wet (messy) runner.

Unfortunately, members of the Mamod Forum treated him quite harshly.  He got lots of orders for his engines and then got behind on manufacturing and shipping.  Ultimately, the Mamod Forum banned him.  A victim of his own success.

I have a neat boat that he built and a dairy engine also.

The 'Pufango' engines were built in the UK by Tony Wright to his own design.  He made a lot of different types in small quantities and as far as I know this is his only Beam model.  I think some of his designs were published in the Model Engineer magazine.
I say 'made' as I don't know if he is still active, I have one of his Beam engines with that unusual porting arrangement whereby the cylinder rotates to let steam in and out, came with a copper boiler and it's a good runner.

Pufango...stands for Puff-And-Go?  Great name.

Nice video....interesting example of a simple beam engine.
Is it from a kit or did you build it from scratch?  It looks
pretty simple and maybe within my abilities to construct
from scratch.

That's a very interesting design rotating that cylinder for the port timing!!!

Today I put together a “fun” project which brought me tons of laughter.  But it actually turned out pretty cool!

Enjoy!
