Thanks for posting it again.

Sorry, I discovered I had already posted the Bucyrus Erie video.

Gotta love steam shovels! I was able to do some firing on this Bucyrus Erie 50B last September at Rollag. The boiler room was so hot I only lasted 20 minutes, that is a young man's game. The chug-chug you hear is the duplex feed pump exhausting out the rear. The noise of the hoist engine is deafening. Definitely a bucket list item and childhood dream come true. You should be able to see it here:

Still though, that steam Shovel IS really something ...... really something AMAZING!!!

Yes for sure, there is something about an upright donkey engine for me as well.
I did make this faux donkey engine many years ago (must have had some time on my hands!) -

Agreed .... Steam Shovels are totally amazing contraptions!
I like Steam Donkey engines even better as they were so incredibly versatile. Used in so many different applications just in the logging industry alone, and capable of so many different operations while hauling or lifting such significant tonnage!!
Used in a wide variety of different industrial applications, they were even capable of moving themselves over really tough terrain and often did!!!
Also agree. I have wanted to acquire a good model Donkey engine since I got into this hobby, I have seen a few but never landed one of my liking. A donkey engine would be a project right up Jin's capabilities, he would do it justice.😉
