The Earl Shilton mishap happened at the steam show there. I was running an engine on gas and my burner developed a leak, when I lit it it flared up with an almighty WOOSH resulting in me losing half my beard and one eyebrow

I don't think you'll ever live that one down Pete!, i seem to remember the following year they surrounded you with fire extinguishers!!  ;D

Great work Pete - wonderful patina! Would like to know more of the provenance, especially the Earl Shilton show mishap.

Happy to see that itīs stored so that the water is kept preheated...one just never knows when the urge to steam it hits  ;)

This came to me after being saved from a house fire and surviving the mishap at Earl Shilton show. Will I ever clean it..............NO.
