Bruce download DaVinci Resolve, its totally free....this will give you an idea of what a 'real' video editing program is like to use.
They all have a pretty similar interface, but their learning curves can be steep, but at least you can get a 'free' feel for what the programs are like to use. This isn't as easy to learn as Filmora, its professional grade -

It's another outlet for imagination, expression and creativity.
Exactly, I've gone the non-existent route the whole time now, doesn't hurt to try to improve my channel if I can. May not improve anything... But it may also.

I admit I haven't thought about how to make my videos more attractive.
More eye-catching titles? More attractive presentation photos?
A photo of a steam engine wrapped in a suggestive negligee ? ;D
Don't hesitate to make suggestions, good resolutions for 2025 are made now !

There is good news if you are willing to download a no longer supported program.
The download is from CNET which has always been a reliable source for me.
Some people have gotten it of the Microsoft server after locating it on the Wayback Machine.
Microsoft has not removed it from their servers.

As you noticed it ;) , I don't use anyone, not feeling the need for it in the niche topic I am sharing.
Would I have more subscribers or views with more sophisticated videos ?
I doubt because of the language I use and I will never be a Keith Appleton as I am not an industrial video maker.

Windows Movie Maker isn't an active Microsoft product, they stopped supporting / offering downloads since 2017. If you find a download, be careful as it may have virus / spyware inside it. That said, I did like it back in my Windows XP & Windows 7 days.
Now it is ClipChamp (https://clipchamp.com/en/) - which you can download from the Microsoft Store App for Windows 10 & 11. Though I believe it is cloud base, so you'll I am pretty sure your videos will need to be on M$ OneDrive. I have no idea if it is worth the trouble or not.
It was mentioned before Wondershare, I have it but haven't used it in ages (like in years). I do remember liking it when I was making some personal home videos.

I use Windows Movie Maker.
It is very intuitive and works pretty well even as an aged unsupported program that was initially launched in 2000 and was first included in Windows Me, then XP, up through Windows 8 or 10.
I have tried newer Microsoft editors and even bought Pinnacle a few years ago and didn't like them.
Everything else I've tried has been unintuitive with a difficult learning curve.
While my Movie Maker is a bit long in the tooth, it still serves me well.
Jim, I may try the Filmora you mentioned.

Windows Movie Maker used to be just fine until MS decided to take it away from us. I do use the built in Windows video editor but it is nowhere near as good as the old program was.

Missed this thread Bruce, its summertime here, roasting hot and we've been having some fun swimming and getting sunburned.
I used Wondershare Filmora now, its not that expensive per year for a subscription and you can try it out for free (they will watermark your vids though) -

Doing research its used by an abundant amount of YT'ubers, its very powerful, a bit of a learning curve but NOTHING like learning Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Vegas or Pinnacle Studio (I've used them all and much prefer Filmora).
Like Filmora - Nero Video, Corel Video Studio, Power Director and Adobe Premier Elements are more consumer video editing software (compared to Hollywood blockbuster editing).
There's HEAPS of Youtube instructional videos that you can watch to get you started on any of the programs listed above.....I really think that once you get over the initial hurdles of learning to edit on Filmora (they ALL have a learning curve, some steeper than others) you will like using it.

I see with my 2,700 videos and 14,000 subscribers that video consumers are very versatile.
With diehards and enthusiasts, no worries
For the others, I don't know if using an editing program would be a plus and it's time-consuming (probably because I'm not interested in this part).
As a result, I chose to make short videos, without any editing, without showing myself and documented by voice (in French,
it's true that it cuts me off from a large audience, you won't have this problem).
I don't guarantee that this is the right solution, pinups and big cars attract more, but I admit that I quickly skip videos
without explanation.

I think its time I get into editing my video's & putting a better effort into a nicer production video. I'm looking for suggestions on a novice video editing program that's fairly simple to use ,but can grow as I learn to use it better. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
