A great Christmas present for sure.

Hours of enjoyment and frustration ahead.  :)

When I first got my Unimat, someone suggested that I get a copy of The Amateur's Lathe by L.H. Sparey.  It's quite a handy resource.

Small, yes, but you'll find it to be amazingly capable I'll bet!

I have a "Tiny" old German Watchmaker's Lathe (Leinen/Boley) that I've managed to turn out some pretty nice 1/8th scale cannon and many small steam engine parts. I've also spent some time with a little Unimat lathe and found it to be quite capable as well!

I've heard plenty of good things said about Proxxon over very many years!!!

These are a nice bit O' kit Tim, you'll have lots of fun with that. Good to see the "bug" taking hold again. 😉👍

Hello steam friends,

I was a good boy this year so Santa brought me an extra cool present ... a mini metal lathe. It's a Proxxon FD 150/E. And it is very tiny!

If you're not familiar with Proxxon tools, they are precision miniature versions of larger machines. The are made in Germany and are known for their quality and precision. This is my second Proxxon tool. I have owned their version of a table saw for several months.

If you're interested in seeing what all they make, you can Google "Proxxon" or do a search on Amazon.

Here are a couple of stock pics of the lathe (I still don't have mine set up to use yet).

Can't wait to start using this little gem. I think it'll be excellent for turning little steam engine parts.

Tim
